Earlier this month, MTPConnect – in partnership with the Western Australian Government and the University of Western Australia (UWA) – officially opened the MTPConnect WA Hub in Perth. The new facility, located at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, was officially opened by the WA Parliamentary Secretary for Innovation and Science, Chris Tallentire MLA and UWA's Vice Chancellor Dawn Freshwater.

Over 100 stakeholders attended the launch including senior executives from successful WA medtech companies including Linear Clinical, Orthocell and Resonance Health.

Speaking at the launch, MTPConnect CEO Dr Dan Grant said he was “thrilled” to be opening a new office in the west.

“Establishing our hub in Western Australia is really the logical next step in helping the state build on its research capabilities and take action in pursuing new commercial outcomes,” Dr Grant explained in his speech.

“MTPConnect is really fortunate to have partnered with the Western Australian Government and UWA to make the office a reality.

“Having a full time, on-the-ground presence will help establish closer connections between research and industry in WA and to see home grown innovations developed through the proof-of-concept stage and successfully commericalised.”

The launch event for the MTPConnect WA Hub also featured presentations from WA Chief Scientist, Professor Peter Klinken and UWA Vice-Chancellor Dawn Freshwater.

The event coincided with a series of MTP sector events in Perth including the WA Bio Innovation Symposium, The Actuator Bootcamp and The BridgeTech Program Occasional Speaker Series.
