Dr Dan Grant – CEO

Swedish Ambassador to Australia

Dan met with Swedish Ambassador to Australia, H.E. Pär Ahlberger, and the Director of HMRI Prof Michael Nilsson at the University of Newcastle, who are leading the Swedish healthcare delegation to Australia to explore opportunities for our two countries to collaborate.

Dr Sandhya Tewari – GM International & Government

Australia New Zealand Leadership Forum

Sandhya attended the meeting of the Health Group of the Australia New Zealand Leadership Forum that has participants from both countries to plan and implement strategic initiatives of interest. The group discussed some of the action items emerging from the Business Roundtable meeting with the Australian and New Zealand Prime Ministers held in February that were aligned with the interests of the health group, particularly around digital identity, data sharing and privacy laws.

Dr Alfredo-Martinez-Coll – GM Stakeholder Engagement

The Actuator Sydney Showcase

There was a great turn out for this event promoting entrepreneurship, where the audience heard from three rock star cohort startups, as well as the five MTGT 2018 finalists, competing for an additional $30,000 and bragging rights as the overall winner. The pitches were jugded by a strong panel from the business and university environments, which included MTAA CEO Ian Burgess. LaTrobe University's NanoMSlide won the top prize as the overall winner! NanoMSlide is a coating technology for pathology slides to assist in the identification of different tissues/cells without the need for specialised stains. Their focus is around better identification of tumour margins during breast cancer surgery.

Accelerate Engagement in NSW

Alfredo joined Dan for a meeting with Dr Tony Penna from NSW Health and Prof Hugh Durrant-Whyte, the NSW Chief Scientist & Engineer, to discuss ways for closer, more meaningful engagement to drive growth of the NSW MTP sector.

Elizabeth Stares - Director Major Projects

Trade Barriers Registry Update

A beta version of the new trade barrier website is live and open for review, and input ahead of a formal launch later in the year. It’s a great time for the export-focused MTPConnect network to check it out and provide feedback.

A/Prof Kevin Pfleger – Director Stakeholder Engagement WA

WA Activities

Kevin caught up with the Perth Angels this week, joined key opinion leaders from across WA at a fantastic cardiovascular symposium at The University of Western Australia and, along with 250 others, joined the Women in Data Science event. Another highlight for the week was the MTPConnect-supported Healthcare Immersive Technologies Symposium. Kevin also chaired the WA MTPConnect Hub Digital Health Roundtable at Wrays.
