MTPConnect and LSQ (Life Sciences Queensland Limited) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), further establishing their relationship and collaborative commitment to boost the Queensland and broader Australian medical technology, biotechnology and pharmaceutical (MTP) sector.

The MoU was signed on the 19th of September by MTPConnect CEO Sue MacLeman and LSQ CEO Mario Pennisi at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Established as part of the Australian Government’s $250 million Industry Growth Centres Initiative, MTPConnect is championing a sector-led approach to accelerating the growth of the MTP ecosystem in Australia by working with the sector to increase its competitiveness, productivity and innovative capacity.

Representing over 170 Member entities, LSQ is a not-for-profit Australian peak industry group, working to assist the growth of individual firms and organisations, and build the profile, capacity and capability of the sector to ensure long term economic, social and environmental benefits to Queensland.

Sue MacLeman, CEO of MTPConnect, said that the MoU signals another positive step in cross-sector collaboration to drive growth and innovation in the Australian MTP market.

“LSQ is vital in providing strategic direction and support to Queensland’s life science sector, and our formal partnership will enhance and compliment the advocacy work of both of our organisations, giving greater voice to our associates in the sector and increasing our positive impact.

“Achieving change for the advancement of the Australian medtech, biotech and pharmaceutical sector is only possible through collaboration by all stakeholders. We look forward to continuing our close work with LSQ and its 170 member organisations to deliver on the MTPConnect sector growth priorities, promoting greater collaboration, alignment and engagement between stakeholders to establish Australia’s world leading position on the international map.”

LSQ CEO Mario Pennisi said, “Its pleasing to have an agreement with MTPConnect, as it is seen to support the current activities across the life sciences industry being under taken by our Members. It is appropriate that this occurs at this time when LSQ is turning its attention to further support our emerging life sciences entrepreneurs.”

“This partnership with MTPConnect will provide an additional avenue to support these endeavors.”
