Queensland, through the Department of State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning, is forging a national and international reputation for its biomedical sector. Our technologies, products, systems and services are innovative, sustainable and embedded in local and global supply chains.
The Advance Queensland Biomedical 10-Year Roadmap and Action Plan highlights the collaborative approach between government and industry to further grow this priority sector, which already contributes around $1.44 billion to the state economy and employs nearly 12,000 people. Key actions include attracting clients from interstate and overseas to use our excellent research facilities and expertise; a pre-accelerator program supporting companies to commercialise their product or service; and a funding program to support innovators to progress product development to leverage further investment. Queensland’s capabilities, world-class hospitals and innovative advanced manufacturers are rapidly positioning us to become a globally competitive Asia-Pacific biomedical industry hub.
