TTRA News: MRFF funding boost targets First Nations health and wellbeing
MTPConnect, the Minister for Health and Aged Care, Hon. Mark Butler MP, and the Assistant Minister for Indigenous Health, Senator the Hon. Malarndirri McCarthy, today announced $6 million in funding from the Targeted Translation Research Accelerator (TTRA) program for new diabetes and cardiovascular disease research projects that address the unmet health and medical needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in rural, remote, regional and urban centres. These efforts will support six projects in the Northern Territory, South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.

CTCM Team Visits Awardee CathRx for Kick-Off Project Meeting
Our Clinical Translation and Commercialisation Medtech (CTCM) program team travelled to Sydney recently to visit Round 2 awardee CathRx Limited, a medical device company developing a pioneering pulsed field ablation system for treatment of Atrial Fibrillation, a widespread heart rhythm disorder that can lead to blood clots and strokes.

A White Paper on minimising antimicrobial resistance in water has been released following a government and industry roundtable held in Canberra earlier this year, co-presented by the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, CSIRO, CRC-SAAFE, representatives from MTPConnect's Australian Antimicrobial Resistance Network and Shawview Consulting.

ARIA Research Wins 2023 Australian Technologies Competition
The Overall Winner of 2023 Australian Technology Company of the Year Award was ARIA Research. The Sydney based startup also took out the top spot in the MTPConnect-sponsored Medtech and Pharma Award Category, announced at a recent event in Sydney.

REDI Fellowship To Help Australians Breathe Easier
MTPConnect launched the Researcher Exchange and Development within Industry (REDI) Fellowship Program in 2020 and since then the program has gone from strength to strength. One good example to show how academia and industry have benefitted through the program is the University of Sydney’s Faculty of Medicine and Health – with no less than six academics from the faculty securing the highly sought after fellowships since the program began.
