Invitation to join Australian delegation to The MedTech Conference

26 April 2018

MTPConnect invites the Australian medical technology sector to join the Australian delegation to The MedTech Conference—September 23 – 26, 2018 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania—to showcase outstanding innovative medical technologies, Australia's unique capabilities, and build invaluable inroads into international markets.

MedTech Conference brings together thousands of medical technology professionals from the US and across the globe and provides intensive networking opportunities to connect with international specialists in policy, innovation, business development and investment. The MTPConnect Australian Pavilion will provide opportunity in a high-traffic area for participants to leverage Australian branding to attract R&D investment, engage in collaborative partnerships, and establish your company as a global leader in the medical technologies industry.

Participants in the Australian delegation will take advantage of tailored packages (TBC) set to include benefits such as:

  • Discounted registration rates
  • Access to programs and seminars exclusive to the Australian delegation, and invitation only events
  • Tailored site visits with the Australian delegation
  • Branding opportunities and exposure via MTPConnect Australian stand
  • Promotion via Australian mission booklet

MTPConnect is also working closely with conference organisers to pitch Australian delegates for speaking opportunities (i.e. the MedTech Innovator Showcase)

Expressions of Interest are now open to join the delegation and discuss requirements – interested parties are encouraged to submit their EOI as soon as possible be involved in program planning.

The impressive MedTech Conference agenda includes various networking sessions, receptions, plenary breakfast and lunch sessions, and educational programs including the CEOs Unplugged Series, panel sessions, and MedTech Meetups.

Australia boasts over 1,000 medtech companies, has some truly impressive success stories, and is set to play a significant role in developing advanced devices, diagnosis equipment, and technology platforms internationally. Coordination between us is vital to ensure our ongoing growth and success, and MTPConnect’s mission is to increase connectivity and collaboration, coordinate activities and increase information exchange between the sector, with the aim of increasing commercialisation of innovative products.

In 2017, MTPConnect led the largest international delegation at The Medtech Conference in San Jose. The Australian delegation took part in a tailored agenda of exclusive events including a tour of the Boston Scientific CRM manufacturing site, and presentations from the Medical Device Innovation Consortia, Hogan Lovells attorneys, Reimbursement Strategies LLC and Medical Alley on topics to learn from and assist in entering the US market.

Andrew Brockway of IQVIA (formerly QuintilesIMS) said that the delegation helped to increase the profile of Australia's presence in medtech.

“MTPConnect helped to facilitate meeting with new potential customers, as well as introduction to other Australian colleagues in the medtech space. Being part of an Australian delegation certainly helped to provide additional credibility and helped to increase the profile of members of the delegation.”

On return from the conference, 100% of the responding delegates reported that the MTPConnect-led delegation was a beneficial investment, and 80% reported that the delegation has resulted in leads, partnerships, pilot-studies and potential investments with the likes of Harvard Innovation Lab and J&J. It is clear that banding together to provide a united Australian front at The MedTech Conference is a highly productive and worthwhile exercise not only for the companies and organisations in attendance, but for promotion and growth of the wider Australian sector in establishing our world-leading position.

We are incredibly excited to be leading this fantastic opportunity to showcase Australia’s talent and assist businesses with international growth. We are looking at additional opportunities for promotion at the event and will circulate with interested parties in the coming weeks.
