Alex Fowkes Joins MTPConnect Board

MTPConnect is pleased to announce the appointment of Alex Fowkes as a Non-Executive Director of MTPConnect.

Mr Fowkes was most recently the Chief Strategy Officer for WuXi NextCODE, a genomic information company, based in Singapore and is now returning to Australia. As a life science executive, he is an experienced leader and thought partner for life science strategy, commercial operations and business development.

Mr Fowkes was previously with WuXi AppTec, a privately-owned global pharmaceutical and device open-access capability and technology platform company, in senior roles for commercial operations and business development. Prior, he spent fifteen years at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in a number of management roles including Executive Director, Asia Research Strategy and Operations, Worldwide Research and Development and Head of Legal Affairs, Australia and New Zealand.

Alex, a proud Queenslander, holds a Bachelor of Law from Bond University and a Bachelor of Science, Biochemistry, Pharmacology from the University of Queensland.

MTPConnect Chair, Sue MacLeman, welcomed the appointment of Mr Fowkes.

“Alex brings extensive experience to MTPConnect from the pharmaceutical, contract research and bioinformatics industries. He has a deep understanding of the medical technology, biotechnology and pharmaceutical sector, particularly in Asia,” Ms MacLeman said.

“With his expertise in corporate strategy, venture capital and drug development, Alex’s strategic oversight will be invaluable as we continue to progress our multi-million-dollar funding programs to drive innovation and commercialisation for better health outcomes in Australia and globally.”
