The 2021 Australian Technologies Competition is now open, calling for scaleups with global potential to showcase technology that solves the challenges of our times – health, supply chains, food security, climate change, energy, emergencies and more.

MTPConnect is once again supporting this national competition and late-stage accelerator that celebrates the achievements of Australian start-ups and small companies in all areas of innovation.

To find out more about the experience for applicants accepted into the program, the MTPConnect Podcast caught up with last year’s winner, Electrogenics Laboratories based in NSW. The company won the ‘Australian Technology Company of the Year’ and also took out the ‘Medtech and Pharma Award’, for developing MOSkin, the world’s most advanced and cost-effective medical radiation sensor technology, which was originally created at University of Wollongong.

In this episode, host Shannan Osrin chats with their Executive Chairman Kim Lyle who looks back on the impact of winning these awards, the experiences gained and shares some tips for start-up success.

Also joining the podcast discussion is the Chair of Impact Tech Ventures Patrick Mooney, the group responsible for organising the Competition. Now in its 11th year, the 2021 program offers a mix of face to face and virtual activities with business mentoring, networking opportunities, introduction to potential partners/investors and guidance around commercialisation pathways and business models.

The Competition is supported by the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources, MTPConnect and other Industry Growth Centres, and industry partners.
