A $19.75 million Early Stage Translation and Commercialisation Support Grant to support early clinical development of medical devices with commercial potential has been awarded to MTPConnect by the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF).

The new program, announced today by the Minister for Health and Aged Care, Hon. Greg Hunt MP will identify and nurture the development of high-quality medical device projects.

The MRFF’s Medical Research Commercialisation initiative is aimed at helping Australian researchers and small to medium-sized businesses turn great ideas into products that benefit patients in Australia and around the world.

MTPConnect Managing Director and CEO, Dr Dan Grant, has welcomed the awarding of the program to MTPConnect, the Growth Centre for the medical technology, biotechnology and pharmaceutical sector.

“By identifying innovations that have strong commercial potential and supporting their translation, the program will help ‘de-risk' projects, making them attractive to private investment for the final steps towards commercialisation of new medical products that will improve the health and wellbeing of Australians,” Dr Grant said.
