Introducing Dr Jafar Hasan – Project Manager, Diagnostics Industry Engagement

We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Jafar Hasan as the Project Manager, Diagnostics Industry Engagement.

Jafar will be based in the Melbourne office working closely with the Diagnostics Industry Engagement Director, Dr Dharmica Mistry and Project Officer Jo Glew.

The team is driving the Australian Diagnostics Action Plan, our partnership with Pathology Technology Australia (PTA), to develop a national action plan for building end-to-end sovereign manufacturing capability for diagnostic tests, establishing Australia as a regional centre of excellence for diagnostic technology manufacturing.

Prior to joining MTPConnect, Jafar was a project manager for multiple translational projects at Queensland University of Technology and University of South Australia, bringing direct experience in research and commercialisation of medical devices. He spent more than five years as a research fellow at the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, and was a recipient of a Wellcome Trust Fellowship.

Jafar holds a Bachelor in Biotechnology from Uttar Pradesh Technical University India and a PhD in Biotechnology from Swinburne University of Technology. He has expertise in nanofabrication, microbiology, and biotechnology and holds several certifications in data science and artificial intelligence, with an interest in how they are applied in diagnostics and pharmaceuticals.
