If you are attending AusMedtech in Adelaide (24-25 May 2023), make sure to sign up for this pre-conference event hosted by MTPConnect’s stakeholder engagement team based in South Australia, who deliver the Adelaide Intermediary Program.

Discovering South Australia’s Medtech: A showcase of Places, People and Opportunities - is a free showcase presentation featuring more than 20 South Australian organisations delivering services, products and capabilities in the medtech sector. 

The showcase will be opened by a representative from the Department for Trade and Investment who will welcome visitors to South Australia and provide an overview on why South Australia is fast becoming a destination and incubator for medtech innovators.

You will hear from Professor Karen Reynolds, Director of the Medical Device Partnering Program (MDPP). Discover how the MDPP is fostering collaboration between research, industry and government to develop Australia’s position as a global leader in the growing medical devices market.

And more than 20 innovative medtech organisations will deliver a series of fast-paced presentations introducing their organisation, discussing unique capabilities and facilities, and offering pathways for connecting and collaborating.

Guests will be offered a light lunch and networking followed by an optional guided tour of SA’s leading health and medical innovation precincts: Adelaide BioMed City, Tonsley Innovation District and Lot Fourteen.

Touring SA’s Innovation Districts |12:45pm-4:30pm

(Departing from the SAHMRI Theatre, returning to the Adelaide Convention Centre in time to attend the AusMedTech2023 Welcome Reception at 5:30pm)

Tour One – Adelaide BioMed City and Lot Fourteen.

Adelaide BioMed City is home to the Royal Adelaide Hospital (one of Australia’s most technologically advanced healthcare facilities and the biggest Automated Pharmacy Distribution System), the South Australian Health & Medical Research Institute, health and medical disciplines of The University of Adelaide and University of South Australia, and co-located medtech and drug discovery companies.

Lot Fourteen hosts more than 150 high-tech businesses and a particular strength in digital health, artificial intelligence and cyber.

This tour is 2.5 hours with walking and tram travel.

Tour Two – The Tonsley Innovation District

(This tour is recommended for international delegates hosted by Austrade or Department for Trade and Investment)

The Tonsley Innovation District is a member of the Global Institute on Innovation Districts and is a leading-edge advanced manufacturing precinct. With a long history of high-value manufacturing, Tonsley exemplifies how places, sectors and people can transition to new industries such as medical devices. The precinct is home to Flinders University, TAFE SA, medical device and electronics companies, as well as health innovation and services such as ARIIA, the Global Centre for Modern Ageing and Autism SA.

This tour is 3 hours by coach transfer and walking.
