The following Industry Fellowships/Internships programs are offered by our REDI Partners 


Australian Postgraduate Research Intern (APR.Intern) 

Internships 

MTPConnect’s REDI Initiative provides eligible businesses with a $10,000 rebate towards the cost of engaging a PhD student intern through APR.Intern. These 3-6 month PhD student placements allow businesses to fast-track R&D, while students are given the opportunity to develop in a practical industry research environment – strengthening research translation within the sector. APR.Intern matches students with companies or companies with students. Internships are open year-round.

APR.Intern is Australia’s only national PhD internship program spanning all sectors and disciplines. The program connects businesses with Australia’s brightest PhD students through short-term industry placements. Students transfer their skills from theory to real-world application, while businesses gain a competitive advantage by accessing specialised research expertise.

Bridge and BridgeTech Programs (Queensland University of Technology) 

The Bridge and BridgeTech Industry Fellowships Program  

The Fellowships provide for Bridge and BridgeTech participants/alumni up to $10,000 per Fellow, directly supporting and facilitating industry placements for 3–6 weeks in the MTP sector. Fellowships develop skills, networks and industry collaborations of Fellows on their commercialisation pathway. Each year, applications open mid-year and the Fellowships select 20 Fellows per annum (10 for Bridge, 10 for BridgeTech). The program will have four dedicated application rounds, operating until 2023.  

About Bridge/BridgeTech Programs 

The Bridge and BridgeTech Programs provide commercialisation training for the pharmaceutical and medtech sectors in collaboration with global leaders, universities and industry associations.  Now in their fifth and sixth year respectively, the programs select up to 100 participants annually from around Australia to take part.

GSK  

GSK Graduate Researcher Program 

This 12-month work placement program developed by GSK Australia is available to biomedical/ science PhD graduates or postdoctoral researchers. To be eligible applicants need to have their PhD conferred at the time of application. The program provides Graduate Researchers with industry experience in a leading multi-national pharmaceutical company. The skills developed will catapult participants to the next level of their career, with a view to improving Australia’s success in the commercialisation of health and medical research. Applications for its final intake for 2023 open in October and close in November 2022.

MTPConnect 

REDI Fellowship Program 

The REDI Fellowship Program provides up to $250,000 per Fellow per annum. The program gives mature research intensive Australian/International MTP companies (sponsors) the financial support to bring researchers, academics, clinicians and MTP professionals in-house for up to 12 months to work on priority medical research projects. The next submission deadline is 27 July 2022. Sponsors can apply via the MTPConnect website.

About MTPConnect REDI 

MTPConnect deploys the $32 million REDI initiative supported by the MRFF. This is under an integrated three-pillar plan driving skills and workforce development for the MTP sector nationally. Under pillar three, the Fellowship will ensure workforce skills align with industry needs and drive industry-research-clinical-entrepreneurship connections.
