In November of 2015, MTPConnect was established as an independent, not-for-profit organisation to drive connectivity, innovation, productivity and competitiveness in Australia’s medical technology, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals sector.
In 2016, we published a foundation plan for the sector and MTPConnect; our first Sector Competitiveness Plan (SCP), which was developed with input from hundreds of sector participants. A periodic review and update of the SCP is an important initiative to inform MTPConnect’s ongoing priorities and areas of focus.
So, in 2019 we have refreshed our 2016 and 2018 plans, again with extensive input from key sector participants.
Our 2019 plan captures the evolving nature of our sector. It explores emerging megatrends which are driven by changing consumer demands and rapid technological advances. It also identifies key Knowledge Priorities; the areas where there is a high level of unmet need and where Australia can be a leading global contributor.
MTPConnect’s 2019 SCP provides a roadmap to drive innovation and sector growth, enabling Australia to build long-term, world-class positions in targeted areas of research where patient outcomes can be realised and opportunities exist for strong commercial returns.
