The National Medical Device Partnering Program (NMDPP) is an ideas incubator - supporting early stage innovation and technology development. Due to the success of the MDPP in South Australia, MTPConnect have supported the review and expansion of the Program to create a National Medical Device Partnering Program (NMDPP).

The MDPP foster’s collaborations between researchers, industry, end-users and government to develop medical technologies with global market potential. Challenging the traditional paradigms of invention and IP creation, the MDPP provides a simple model for industry and research collaboration. Rather than ‘push’ technology towards applications, the Program invites inventors, clinicians and researchers to submit ideas for new medtech innovations.

The MDPP provides a mechanism to develop proof-of-concept, prototyping, clinical evaluation and commercialisation planning, and its unique approach enables clients to leverage the best expertise, perspectives and networks. Ideas that a brought to the MDPP cover a range of solutions including therapeutic devices, diagnostics, hospital equipment and accessories, surgical instruments, assistive technologies and software and simulation tools.

The MDPP is dedicated to connecting clever product ideas with world-class research, manufacturing and clinical expertise to develop innovative solutions and improve lives.

The NMDPP will leverage existing industry and research capabilities to fast-track technology development and in doing so, will create a connected network and thriving medtech sector in Australia. The ambition is for Australia to become the fastest in the world in taking ideas for medical devices and making them a commercial reality.

MTPConnect funding is supporting the National footprint, with the establishment of a steering group and national model for roll-out. It is anticipated that the MDPP will expand from SA into VIC, NSW, QLD and WA in 2019.
