About the webinar:

Join Dr Masha Somi, Chief Executive Officer, Health and Medical Research Office and a panel of Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) expert advisory panel members and grant recipients, for a practical workshop on how to address research priorities in grant applications.

This webinar will discuss how MRFF research priorities are developed, how to address research priorities when applying for grants, and the benefits of priority-led research for Australians.

A ‘Questions & Answers’ session will follow the presentation.

Host:

Dr Masha Somi is the CEO of the Health and Medical Research Office within the Department of Health and Aged Care. The Health and Medical Research Office provides strategic oversight of investments from the Medical Research Future Fund.

Panellists:

Professor Homer is Deputy Chair of the Australian Medical Research Advisory Board and Chair of the Council of the National Health and Medical Research Council. Professor Homer is the Deputy Director for Gender Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at the Burnet Institute and Emeritus Professor of Midwifery at the University of Technology Sydney.

Professor Teesson was the Chair of the Million Minds Mental Health Research Mission Expert Advisory Panel and a member of the Childhood Mental Health Research Plan Expert Advisory Panel. Professor Teesson is the Director of the Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use at the University of Sydney.

Ms Calvert was a member of the Million Minds Mental Health Research Mission Expert Advisory Panel and the Childhood Mental Health Research Plan Expert Advisory Panel. Ms Calvert is a Lived Experience advisor and Consumer Co-Chair of the National Mental Health Consumer Carer Forum. She is also a Committee Member of the Australia and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders.

Associate Professor Macdonald the Chief Investigator for the ‘1 in 10 men: Informing prevention of and treatment for paternal mental health problems’ project. Dr Macdonald is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Health, School of Psychology at Deakin University.

Professor Berk is the Chief Investigator for the ‘Mental Health Australia General Clinical Trial Network (MAGNET)’ project. Alfred Deakin Professor Berk is the Director of the Institute for Mental and Physical Health and Clinical Translation, Deakin University.
