About the Event

Sponsored by the State Government of Victoria, this BioForum: 2022 Industry Update – Investment and Funding, will provide an overview of some of the support and funding options available to help organisations within the biotech sector grow.

Participants will hear about investment options, incubators and accelerators from both private and government sources. Expert speakers will examine how these resources can work together within the biotech ecosystem and how organisations can leverage this to benefit themselves and the biotech industry as a whole. You will be joined by the following speakers:

Grant Dooley, CEO, Breakthrough Victoria
Breakthrough Victoria is an independent investment management company established in 2021 to invest and manage the Victorian Government’s landmark $2 billion Breakthrough Victoria Fund. Grant will take us through Breakthrough Victoria’s investment plans for the health and life sciences sector.

Simon Wilkins, Head of Operations, CUREator
CUREator is a national biotechnology incubator run by Brandon BioCatalyst (formerly the Medical Research Commercialisation Fund). It is a nationwide program offering grant funding for a select number of preclinical medical research and medical innovation projects, and clinical-stage novel therapeutics. Simon Wilkins will talk about the support that CUREator offers and the types of projects they fund.

Bronwyn LeGrice, CEO and Managing Director, ANDHealth
ANDHealth is Australia’s leading provider of accelerator, incubator and commercialisation programs for digital health technology companies. Bronwyn will present the programs and activities on offer from ANDHealth.

Lauren Kelly, Senior Director of our Targeted Translation Research Accelerator (TTRA) program at MTPConnect
MTPConnect is a not-for-profit organisation aiming to accelerate the rate of growth of the medtech, biotech and pharmaceutical sector in Australia. MTPConnect has two funding programs currently in market, TTRA and CTC-M. Lauren will speak to both programs along with the ongoing mentoring and commercialisation support provided by MTPConnect and specialist program partners.

Georgia McDonald, Chief Operating Officer, LaunchVic
LaunchVic is the state government agency responsible for growing and developing the Victorian startup ecosystem. Georgia will be talking about some of the programs funded by LaunchVic in health and life sciences as well as presenting on LaunchVic’s investments into Victoria’s angel investor networks, and the $10m Alice Anderson Fund.
