Victorian Clinical Trials Gateway launched

07 March 2018

The Victorian Clinical Trials Gateway has been launched in Melbourne to make it easier for companies to access world-class service providers, trial-ready infrastructure and talent.

This new portal will provide a single point of entry for international companies to connect with Victorian clinical trial sites, contract research organisations and professional services.

The Victorian Government has provided support to St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne to develop the portal on behalf of the sector. In addition to attracting global companies to Victoria, the Gateway will help local companies, particularly start-ups and small to medium enterprises, to find the support and services they need to grow.

This digital hub will promote industry strengths to a global audience and drive new opportunities for industry-sponsored trials and international partnerships, supported by the Victorian Government’s network of business offices throughout the world.

As noted in MTPConnect’s ‘Clinical Trials in Australia’ report in June 2017, over 1,360 clinical trials were started in 2015, with the sector supporting approximately 6,900 jobs and generating $1.1 billion in gross expenditure on ongoing trials in 2015. Clinical trials generate a number of flow-on benefits, ranging from early access to improved treatments and the overall improvement of the health and productivity of Australians.
