About Vision CRC

The Vision Cooperative Research Centre (Vision CRC) Ltd was established in 2003 under the Australian Government's Business Cooperative Research Centres Programme and funded for twelve years, from 2003-2015.

World-leading contact lens products were co-developed though Vision CRC and its predecessor, the Cooperative Research Centre for Eye Research and Technology (CRCERT, 1991-2003), generating over $300 million in royalties for CRC partners and around $1.5 billion in cash and in-kind investment.

The two CRCs also produced promising contact lens and spectacle lens technologies for myopia control, a prototype material to ‘cure’ presbyopia, technologies for eye surgery, significantly advanced understanding of ocular health, delivered professional education to thousands of practitioners and eye care personnel, conducted crucial research into the delivery of eye care to people in need and educated over 100 postgraduate research students.
