About the Event

Hosted as part of Innovation Week 2016, this event will explore the different options for commercialising discoveries in medical research. Commercialisation of university-based research is increasing in Australia and contention exists over whether forming a start-up company, or licensing to a more resourceful company, provides better outcomes for the inventor, the university and the economy. Our panel, with experience in venture capital, angel investing, start-up companies, industry and universities, will debate the merits and pitfalls encountered with each approach.

As well as learn about the various funding options for commercialising research, the audience will hear about growing trends in the local and global biotechnology sector, new investment funds soon to be launched and how innovation and research power a robust economy.

The debate will be moderated by the highly engaging Michelle Gallaher and also feature time for networking over a drink and audience questions.
