It has been a fantastic week of innovation immersion as MIT REAP - Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program landed in Perth! Over 80 participants from around the globe have been busy immersing themselves in Western Australia’s innovation ecosystem, with events, tours, and seminars.

At the start of the week, participants undertook tours of medical, space, robotics, big data, XR and innovation spaces, programs and facilities across Perth. A cohort took part in the medical innovation tour which included Fiona Stanley Hospital, the Centre for Entrepreneurial Research and Innovation and the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. The group heard from MTP leaders including Professor Fiona Wood and startups like Triphasic Cardiac Pump Pty Ltd, Isopogen, U-CAN and Lixa in a series of mini pitches.

The WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub was proud to host the tour of the Perkins Institute and QEII Medical Precinct, showing international guests the amazing people, facilities, and resources that makes WA a great place to commercialise novel medical products. We were delighted to have Linear Clinical Research Ltd, Lixa and the T3mPLATE teams outlining the initiatives they are working on to benefit both patients and the community worldwide.

Other events during the week included the launch of Blak Angels (a First Nations angel investing group), the launch of the City of Fremantle Innovation Strategy, and MIT Perth Symposium which is bringing stakeholders from across the sector together today to discuss how WA is developing a vibrant innovation ecosystem.
