WA Turns the ‘Spotlight on 2023’ : MTPConnect

The room was packed and the vibes were high as the WA health and medical life sciences sector gathered for a night of connections and celebrations at the inaugural ‘Spotlight on 2023’ event in Perth.

Hosted by the WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub and supported by Novacina, the event was a capstone on the Hub’s successful monthly seminar and networking WA MTP Sector Spotlight Series, which shines a spotlight on meaningful, inspiring stories of entrepreneurship, innovation, and commercialisation from the sector.

The event gathered representatives from startups, industry, the public sector, researchers, clinicians, service providers and support organisations, with special guests including the Minister for Innovation and the Digital Economy; Science; and Medical Research, Hon Stephen Dawson, Deputy Director General at the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation Linda Dawson, Director Medical Research and Innovation at WA Department of Health Nasir David, and MTPConnect CEO Stuart Dignam.

Two videos were played showcasing the outstanding achievements and milestones from the sector. The first reel turned the spotlight on the new facilities, companies, and funding attracted to the sector, and the many opportunities for collaboration and connection at delegations, sector events and initiatives. The second reel turned an individual spotlight on the dedicated organisations working across the medtech and life sciences sector to grow jobs, enhance capabilities, and change patients’ lives.
