The WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub invites you to join to a special seminar event with international biotech consultant Dr Kate Hilyard on Translating complexity - getting rid of the jargon that often puts barriers between us.

Throughout her career, Kate Hilyard has strived to make a difference to patient lives – from her early academic research in human biology, to her career in leading organisations on missions to discover new drugs. She has held multiple senior executive positions in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector with Roche, Cambridge Antibody Technology, Charles River Laboratories and the AI biotech Healx.

Kate joined the UK Vaccine Task Force in July 2020 as an expert on the COVID-19 vaccine immunogenicity testing and data, and for over three years has advised government ministers and senior civil servants.

In Kate’s two most recent roles, the major theme has been translating complexity – in Healx, she helped enable effective communication between technologists and biologists, and in the Vaccine Task Force, she worked with immunology and virology teams, civil servants and ministers to simplify scientific communications.

Kate will explore how to overcome the barrier of complexity through the seminar and this will be followed by a fireside chat and Q&A with WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub’s Director of Stakeholder Engagement Dr Tracey Wilkinson.
